YOKKAO Next Generation Kids: alla ricerca delle future star!
L'iniziativa globale YOKKAO NEXT GENERATION è stata lanciata nel 2015, progettata per scoprire il talento nella nuova generazione di combattenti di Muay Thai. L'evento ha avuto una missione continua per individuare e coltivare giovani talenti di combattimento provenienti da tutto il mondo. Ora, YOKKAO fa un ulteriore passo avanti espandendo la ricerca ai bambini dai 5 ai 16 anni.
Ancora oggi la Muay Thai è uno sport dominato dai combattenti nativi tailandesi. Una delle ragioni principali di questo fenomeno è che la maggior parte di loro inizia ad allenarsi in età molto giovane, spesso addirittura tra i 5 e i 6 anni. Oltre ad un ambiente fortemente competitivo che genera i migliori combattenti di Muay Thai del mondo, iniziare da giovani ha dato ai combattenti tailandesi un vantaggio nello sviluppo del loro gioco. Quando diventano professionisti a 15 anni, che è l’età minima per i combattimenti professionistici in Thailandia, avranno già accumulato oltre 100 incontri.

With YOKKAO Next Generation Kids, this disparity in experience is demolished. YOKKAO promoters have been vocal and active in discovering young talents, putting them on the global stage. One of the most prominent fighter discovered from the Next Generation is none other than the KO Kid, Spencer Brown. The 20 year-old fighter from Irvine, Scotland was talent-spotted during a YOKKAO Next Generation event 2 years ago by YOKKAO UK promoter Brian Calder. After a series of impressive performances, Spencer was invited to train at the YOKKAO Training Center Bangkok alongside Muay Thai legends like Saenchai and Singdam. The training has proven fruitful so far as he has added a streak of wins to his fight record, including 3 first round KO wins at MX Muay Xtreme in Bangkok.
To prepare for this historic milestone, new YOKKAO gear for kids are already in the works including all the popular collections like SICK, Frost, etc. The event looks set to benefit not just the children but also the shops who play their part in contributing to the promotion of Muay Thai.
